Gasoline and diesel heat engines are at the center of a global environmental crisis but the economic, technological and industrial obstacles are many. Electricity and batteries cannot meet all needs. The hydrogene fuel cell can only be a partial solution for the renewal of the global fleet but the hydrogen distribution netword is expanding, new types of hydrogen prodution will appear.

ENGINE

The pressurized mixture of hydrogen and air explodes in the combustion chamber to keep the engine running. The engine only releases water.

Specific 2-stroke cycle

The engine operates on a 2-stroke cycle to optimize performance and efficiency. The 2-stroke cycle is possible because hydrogen does not release any pollutants.

Retrofit replacement

Our 2-stroke hydrogen engine has the same dimensions and characteristics as the engine it replaces. The fuel tanks are replaced. The other components (gearbox, breake, etc.) remain unchanged

Our technology is patented in Europe, USA, Brasil, China, Japan, Korea and India. We offer operationg licenses for the use of our technology in your own engines.

The mixture of hydrogen and air is injected directly under pressure at the bottom dead center of the piston.

After compression, the spark plug provides the necessary spark for the explosion of the gas mixture. This explosion is 6 times faster than that of the air-gasoline mixture.

All the unburned gases (following the explosion or washing) are recycled in the following cycles...

The 2-stroke hydrogen + oxygen internal combustion engine in summary

  • 2-stroke = optimization of the efficiency of the thermal engine vs 4-strokes
  • 2-stroke = simplified engine compared to a 4-stroke gasoline engine
  • All the result of the explosion is reinjected
  • Nitrogen oxides (polluting gas) resulting from the combustion of air's nitrogen are reinjected into cylinders and re-exploded until washing in the condensate
  • No polluting during usage (only releases water)
  • Fully recyclable, so no pollution during manufacture
  • More efficient (no cycle lost)
  • Long life time and easy maintainability (no more distribution)
  • Lighter (no muffler, no distribution, no camshaft, simplified cylender head...)
  • Pressurized gas directly injected under pressure (turbo effect)

Our pool of patents covers, both France and the main countries of the automotive market, both the specific 2-stroke hydrogen combution engine and its integration into a complete traction system. This system also includes local and green production of the hydrogen used to facilitate market penetration.

THOM internally offers the retrofitting of certain vehicles with its 2-stroke internal combustion hydrogen engine. To provide an effective solution in the replacement of land vehicles (cars, utility vehicles, trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, construction machinery, etc.) or boats, THOM offers manufacturers to integrate its engine into their new or retrofitted vehicles. This transfer of patented technology and expertise is realised if the form of non-exclusive technology licenses.
